BEWARE OF PITBUL

 A pit bull is a fighting dog developed in 19th-century England, Scotland, and Ireland from bulldog and terrier ancestry for hunting, specifically for capturing and restraining semi-feral livestock. It is also called an American pit bull terrier.

1 or pit bull terrier : a muscular, short-haired, stocky dog (such as an American pit bull terrier or American Staffordshire terrier) of any of several breeds or a hybrid with one or more of these breeds that was originally developed for fighting and is noted for strength, stamina, and tenacity.

 In the year 2000, the United States CDC examined the total deaths related to dog bites and they found that out of total fatalities between 1979 and 1998, Rottweilers and pit bull–type dogs accounted for 67% deaths. It had said, "There appears to be a breed-specific problem with fatalities.

 

 In general, pit bulls aren't aggressive with people but are “less tolerant” of other dogs than many other breeds, says Pamela Reid, PhD, vice president of the ASPCA's Animal Behavior Center in New York. They also have “great tenacity. They put their mind to something, and they do it.

 

 Due to selective breeding for the purposes of dogfighting, pit bulls are highly dog-aggressive. This aggression is not limited to dogs; pit bulls frequently kill other companion pets and domesticated animals.

 In the 10 years from 2009 to 2018, pit bulls killed or maimed 3,569 people in the USA and Canada. (Merritt Clifton, Dog Attack Deaths & Maimings, U.S. & Canada, 1982-2018 Log.) They killed over 80% of all Americans who are killed by dogs

  Nevertheless, it has been proved that the injuries inflicted by pit bulls are far worse than injuries caused by other common breeds of dog.

 

 

How do you fight a pitbull?

Try to stop the bite from going near your legs, face and neck. Don't attempt to pull your arm outWhen pit bulls attack, they cause damage to their prey with what's called the "bite, hold and shake". Try forcing your hand down into its throat to make it coke.

 

What do you do if a pitbull attacks you?

If the dog does attack, "feed" it your jacket, purse, bicycle or anything you can put between yourself and the dog. If you fall or are knocked to the ground, curl into a ball with your hands over your ears and remain motionless. Try not to scream or roll around.

Pit bull import and ownership are also banned or restricted in several other countries of Europe, including France, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Poland. Similar rules are in force in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and several cities of Canada as well.
