GREAT BARRIER REEF- WORLD'S LARGEST REEF

Australia's Great Barrier Reef is considered to be the world's largest reef system. It is made up of over 2,900 individual reefs, 900 islands and covers an area of 133,000 square miles (344,400 sq km). It is also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is the world's biggest structure made out of living species. The Great Barrier Reef is also unique in that it is the only living organism that can be seen from space. The Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea. It is off the northeast coast of Australia's state of Queensland. The reef itself stretches over 1,600 miles (2,600 km) and most of it is between 9 and 93 miles (15 and 150 km) from shore. In places the reef is up to 40 miles (65 km) wide. The reef also includes Murray Island. Geographically, the Great Barrier Reef stretches from Torres Strait in the north to the area between Lady Elliot and Fraser Islands in the south. Much of the Great Ba

HUMAN BLOOD CIRCULATION

THE CIRCULATORY   SYSTEM  consists  of  the  heart  and  blood   vessels, which  together   maintain  a   continuous   flow   of  blood   around  the  body .The   heart  pumps    oxygen-rich   blood   from  the   lungs  to  all   parts  of  the    body  through  a  network   of  tubes  called  Arteries, and  smaller   branches  called  arterioles.Blood   returns  to  the  heart  via  small  vessels   called   venules ,which  lead  in  turn  into  larger  tubes   called  veins.Arterioles  and  venules  are  linked   by  a  network   of  tiny  vessels called   capillaries;where  the  exchange  of  oxygen   and  carbon   dioxide    between  blood  and   body  cells  takes  place. Blood   has   four   main  components ;red  blood  cells ,white blood  cells, platelets,  and  liquid  plasma. BLOOD  CIRCULATION

MEASURING TIME

ALL  TIME  KEEPING  DEVICES depend   on  counting  a regularly -repeated .phenomenon .The  earliest  devices   were   based  on  daily  ,monthly, or  yearly  cycles  of  the  sun and  moon .Most  modern  clocks  are  based   on  repeated   mechanical  or  electronic  oscillations (vibrations). The  more  frequent   the  vibrations, the  greater  the  potential  accuracy of  the  clock. The  crystal  in  the quartz  watch   typically   vibrates  at  32,768  hertz.(32,768 times  a  second), so  it  keeps  better   time than  a   pendulum   clock ,whose   pendulum   typically   swings  twice  a  second . The    most  accurate    timekeeping   devices  are  atomic   fountains ,which   are  based  on  oscillations  of  caesium    atoms .Global  communication  technologies  , such  as  computer networks   and broadcasting, rely  on  the  world  using   one accurate  time  standard. This  is   called  UCT.(UNIVERSAL  COORDINATE  TIME),and  is  based on   the  average

IMPACT OF THE AIR

WE  CAN  NOT  SEE  AIR, BUT  it  is  not  just   empty  space  .Air   is  a mixture  of  many  gases.Air  exerts   pressure   on  us,but  does  not  crush  us .In  principle  ,we   are  living  on  the  floor  of  a  kilometer  -thick   ocean  of  air   known  as  the  air  cover  or  the  atmosphere  of  the  Earth.Since  ,air  is  a  matter  ,it  can  also  carry   things  ;leaves, in  autumn  ,birds, aircraft, hot  air  balloons, and  many  more  things .However   ,all  objects  need   propulsion   to   lift  from  the  ground-birds  beat  their  wings, Aircraft     depends  on   propellers    or  jet  engines. FLYING  OF  AIRCRAFT -     Air crafts   need  a  combination   of  procedures  to     fly  in  the   air  .They  need   a propulsion   system- a propeller  or  jet  engine .They   also  need  a  lift ,  which  comes   from  wings .While  flying  ,  the  forward  thrust  causes    the    air   to  flow    at  great  speeds  along

ICE HOCKEY

ICE  HOCKEY    IS  PLAYED  BY  TWO  TEAMS  OF  SIX  PLAYERS.On  an   ice  ring ,with  a  goal  net  at  each  end.the  object   of  this  fast  and  often  dangerous  game  is  to  hit  a  frozen   rubber  puck  into   the    opposing  team's   net  ,with  a   ice hockey  stick . The  game   begins   when  the  referee   drops the  puck  between  the sticks  of  two  players    from  opposing   teams.who  "face off". The  ring  is  divided   into    three  areas;defending, neutral, and  attacking   zone.Players   may  move  with  the  puck and  pass  the  puck  to  one another  along  the  Ice,but  may  not  pass  it   more  than   two  zones    across  the  across  the  ring  markings. A   goal  is  scored  when  the  puck  entirely  crosses   the  goal  line between  the  posts   and  under   the  cross  bar  of  the  goal.
