BIG DATA -THE NEW SCIENCE

'Big data' is the new science of understanding and predicting human behavior by studying large volumes of unstructured data.  Big data is also known as 'predictive analytics'. '.Analyzing Twitter posts, Facebook feeds, eBay searches, GPS trackers, and ATM machines are some big data examples. Studying security videos, traffic data, weather patterns, flight arrivals, cell phone tower logs, and heart rate trackers are other forms. Big data is a messy new science that changes weekly, and only a few experts understand it all.    Most big data projects are very obscure, there are successful examples of big data affecting the everyday life of individuals, companies, and governments: Predicting virus outbreaks: by studying socio-political data, weather and climate data, and hospital/clinical data, these scientists are now predicting dengue fever outbreaks with 4 weeks advance notice. CARDIOVASCU;AR SYSTEM

Cardiovascular System The cardiovascular system is responsible for transporting nutrients and removing gaseous waste from the body. This system is comprised of the heart and the circulatory system. Structures of the cardiovascular system include the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The lymphatic system is also closely associated with the cardiovascular system. Structures of the Cardiovascular System Heart The heart is the organ that supplies blood and oxygen to all parts of the body. This amazing muscle produces electrical impulses through a process called cardiac conduction. These impulses cause the heart to contract and then relax, producing what is known as a heart beat. The beating of the heart drives the cardiac cycle which pumps blood to cells and tissues of the body.  Blood Vessels Blood vessels are intricate networks of hollow tubes that transport blood throughout the entire body. Blood tr

KNOW YOUR BLOOD COMPOSITION

Our blood is a fluid that is also a type of connective tissue. It is composed of blood cells and an aqueous fluid known as plasma. Two major functions of the blood include transporting substances to and from our cells and providing immunity and protection against infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses. Blood is a component of the cardiovascular system. It is circulated through the body via the heart  and  blood  vessels. Blood Components Blood consists of several elements. The major components of blood include plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.   Plasma: This major constituent of blood comprises about 55 percent of blood volume. It consists of water with several different substances dissolved within. Plasma contains salts, proteins, and blood cells. Plasma also transports nutrients, sugars, fats, hormones, gases, and waste material contained within blood.  Red Blood Cells (erythrocytes): These cells determine blood

HUMAN BODY -ORGAN SYSTEM

Organ Systems The human body is made up of several organ systems that work together as one unit. Organ systems fit between the hierarchical levels of organs and the organism. Ten major organ systems of the body are listed below along with several organs that are associated with each system. It is important to keep in mind that these organ systems don't just exist as individual units. The final product of these cooperating systems is one unit call unit called the body 1. Circulatory System The main function of the circulatory system is to transport nutrients and gasses to cells and tissues throughout body. This is accomplished by the circulation of blood. Two components of this system are the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. Cardiovascular: This system is comprised of the heart, blood, and blood vessels. The beating of the heart drives the cardiac cycle which pumps blood throughout body. Lymphatic: This system is a vascular network of tubules and d

HUMAN BODY -THYROID GLAND

The thyroid is a dual lobed gland located at the front of the neck, just beneath the larynx (voice box). One lobe of the thyroid is located on each side of the trachea (windpipe). The two lobes of the thyroid gland are connected by a narrow strip of tissue known as the isthmus. As a component of the endocrine system, the thyroid secretes hormones that control important functions including metabolism, growth, heart rate, and body temperature. Found within thyroid tissue are structures known as parathyroid glands. These tiny glands secrete parathyroid hormone, which regulates calcium levels in the blood. Thyroid Structure The thyroid is highly vascular, meaning that it has a wealth of blood vessels.javascript:void(0); It is composed of follicles that absorb iodine, which is needed to produce thyroid hormones. These follicles store iodine and other substances necessary for hormone production. Surrounding the follicles are folliclar cells. These cells produce an

HUMAN BODY -CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

The circulatory system is a major organ system of the body. The circulatory system transports oxygen and nutrients in the blood to all of the cells in the body. In addition to transporting nutrients, this system also picks up wastes produced by metabolic processes and delivers them to other organs for disposal. The circulatory system, sometimes called the cardiovascular system, consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The heart provides the "muscle" needed to pump blood throughout the body. Blood vessels are the conduits through which blood is transported and blood contains the valuable nutrients and oxygen that are needed to sustain tissues and organs. The circulatory system circulates blood in two circuits: the pulmonary circuit and systemic circuit. Circulatory System Function The circulatory system provides several necessary functions in the body. This system works in conjunction with other systems to keep the body functioning normally. The ci

WEB BASICS -HTML -THE LANGUAGE OF WEB SITES

The acronym HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It's the primary markup language used to write content on the web. Every single web page on the internet has at least some HTML markup included in its source code, and most websites are comprised of many.HTML or .HTM files. Whether or not you intend to build a website is irrelevant. Knowing what HTML is, how it came to exist and the basics of how the markup language is constructed really show the amazing versatility of this basic website architecture and how it continues to be a major part of how we view the web.  If you're online, then you've come across at least a few instances of HTML, probably without even realizing it. HTML was created in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee, the official creator, and founder of what we now know as the World Wide Web. He came up with the idea of sharing information no matter where a computer was located, through the use of hyperlinks (HTML-coded links that connect one resource t

ANTI BODIES - PROTECTOR OF OUR BODY

What Are Antibodies? Antibodies (also called immunoglobulins) are specialized proteins that travel thorough the blood stream and are found in bodily fluids. They are utilized by the immune system to identify and defend against foreign intruders to the body. These foreign intruders, or antigens, include any substance or organism that evokes an immune response. Bacteria, viruses, pollen, and incompatible blood cell types are examples of antigens that cause immune responses. Antibodies recognize specific antigens by identifying certain areas on the surface of the antigen known as antigenic determinants. Once the specific antigenic determinant is recognized, the antibody will bind to the determinant. The antigen is tagged as an intruder and labeled for destruction by other immune cells. Antibodies protect against substances prior to cell infection. Antibody Production Antibodies are produced by a type of white bloo

EATING NUTS HELPS YOU LIVE LONGER

Nuts are a delicious part of an anti-aging diet, helping you ward off chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers—and thanks to a review of two large-scale, long-term studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2013, there's strong evidence that nuts of all kinds can help you live longer, too. In that research, eating just an ounce of nuts daily was linked to a 20 percent lower risk of death over a 30-year period. Nuts and General Health   Nuts have been a regular component of the human diet for thousands of years. A growing body of evidence that nuts are healthy prompted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2003 to issue a qualified health claim saying that current scientific data suggest that eating 1.5 oz (42g) of nuts each day may reduce the risk of heart disease. More recent research has shown that eating nuts is linked to a lower risk of colon cancer, gallbladder disease, and diverticulitis

TOP FRUITS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

1 Apples    Apples are a common favorite. They're the ultimate snack: filling, juicy, crunchy, and portable. Studies have even shown that eating three apples per day can help with weight loss—not surprising, considering they’ re chock-full of fiber, a nutrient that’s known to boost feelings of fullness and ward off hunger pangs. There are plenty of ways to get your daily dose of apple: Chow down on a whole Fuji (apples are such a packable snack!), add pieces to your oatmeal, throw slices into a salad, bake some with your chicken, or cook up a low-cal dessert.  1 medium apple: 95 calories,    . 2 Watermelon    Watermelon is a double whammy: It’s low in calories with a high water content. This means you can eat two entire cups of watermelon for less than 100 calories and your stomach will feel   like you’ve eaten more because the fruit is more than 90 percent water. Staying hydrate
