 A blockbuster is a Hollywood movie that's made with a large budget and big stars. A true blockbuster is extremely popular and brings in a lot of money. Typically, a blockbuster is a fabulous summer movie that audiences line up to see the first weekend it's released.

 The term was actually first coined by publicists who drew on readers' familiarity with the blockbuster bombs, drawing an analogy with the bomb's huge impact. The trade press subsequently appropriated the term as short-hand for a film's commercial potential.

Superhit is the one who performs well recovering it's budget & good profit for producers . Suppose a movie is made on a budget of 60 cr. & Collects nearly 150 cr. will be considered a super hit . Blockbuster is very well received by audience & is a box office monster  

 How much money do Hollywood blockbuster movies make? Stephenfollows found that the average profit for the average Hollywood blockbuster across all income sources listed above is around $400 million.

 Steven Spielberg's (USA) Jaws (USA, 1975) is considered the first summer blockbuster. Not only did people queue up around the block to see the movie, it became the first film to earn $100 million at the box office.

 Titanic became the first movie to gross over $1 billion worldwide on March 1, 1998, in 74 days of release.
