Durable option for dental fillings that will not easily corrode,

Graphene oxide is being looked upon as a possible non-toxic and a very durable option for dental fillings that will not easily corrode, researchers say. Presently, filings used are made of metals like mercury, copper, silver and tin, or composites of ceramic and powdered glass. Both these fillings re prone to corroding and aren’t very strong. On the other hand, graphene is 200 times stronger compared to steel and does not corrode – the reason why researchers are now considering it as a likely option for dental fillings.
 The  recent  researches  throwing  new  light   on  the  cytotoxic  properties  of   graphene  based   materials   and  the potential     of  being   used  as  dental  fillings;Said  Andriana   philip, associate  professor   at  Iulio   Hatieganu   University   of  medicine  and Pharmacy   in Romania.
  The next step for this research is for the team to make dental materials with graphene oxide and test how compatible they are with teeth, and how toxic they are to cells.
