COUNTRY - TAIWAN

Largely mountainous island nation in East Asia, formerly known as Formosa. Taiwan is located north of the Philippines and the South China Sea, about 180 km off the southeastern coast of China, separated from the mainland by the Taiwan Strait.

Currently, Taiwan's political status is ambiguous.  The current administration of the Republic of China (Taiwan) maintains that Taiwan is already an independent country as the ROC and thus does not have to push for any sort of formal independence. The use of independence for Taiwan can be ambiguous

 Taiwan is considered to be a very safe country to live in and is consistently acknowledged as a safe country in a variety of global safety indexes, including SafeAround's Index in which Taiwan took 24th position out of 160 countries.

National Palace Museum

Museum, Park
 Home to one of the largest collections of Chinese imperial artifacts, the National Palace Museum offers a look into imperial China’s past. The many thousands of items on display were rescued by Chiang Kai-Shek’s government as they fled mainland China during the cultural revolution.
 

 
 

Taroko Gorge

A couple of hours’ train ride from Taipei lies Taroko National Park, home to one of the most visited natural wonders in Taiwan. Take the trail to the Eternal Spring Shrine which features a stunning waterfall.

 

Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of water in Taiwan and a great destination for a short trip. There are scores of hotels located around the lake which is busy with yachts taking tourists from one side to the other. There is also a cable car here that takes you to the Formosa Aboriginal Culture Village.

 
 
 
 

Maokong.

 This well-known spot is one of the best places in Taipei to enjoy a cup of tea. The incredible scenery is worth the trip alone, but it is perhaps the gondola ride from the zoo to Maokong which has made it one of the most popular day trips to make during a stay in Taipei.


 

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas

 Located on the edge of Lotus Lake, a scenic area in the heart of Kaohsiung, these two pagodas are possibly the most popular attractions in the port city. Visitors enter the temples through the dragon’s and tiger’s mouths and can enjoy a view of the lake from the top of each tower.


 


 

Rainbow Village

 This colorful neighborhood was the brainchild of local man Huang Yung-Fu. He decided that the ex-military village he lived in was too drab and so took a few paintbrushes to the walls – he hasn’t yet stopped.

 
 
 

Miramar ferries wheel

 Located in the Miramar Entertainment Park, the Miramar ferries wheel dominates the local skyline. And with very few tall buildings to obstruct the scenery, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city.
 

 

Shilin Night Market

There are plenty of night markets located throughout the country, but one of the most famous and easily accessed is Shilin Night Market. There’s an incredible selection of the best street food on offer, while the shops and stands are packed with bargains.

 

Longshan Temple

Buddhist Temple, Shrine
 Built in the 1700s, this Buddhist temple is now home to many gods from neighboring temples that were demolished. The temple survived an air raid during World War II and is one of the most popular temples on the island.

Chimei Museum

 This private museum was established by the Chimei corporation in 1992 but moved to its current location in 2014 and contains a large collection of Western art, musical instruments, and weapons. Its design is heavily influenced by European architecture, making it one of a kind in Taiwan.


 

 

Taipei 101 

 A modern architectural marvel, Taipei 101 is a super skyscraper in Taiwan’s capital city. Rising to a height of over 1600 feet, the building derives its name from the fact that it spans across 101 levels.


 

 

Beitou Hot Springs 

One of the best places to visit in Taiwan during the winter months is the Beitou hot spring. Fed by the geothermal hot springs in Beitou Park, the water in the hot springs is rich in sulfur and known for its rejuvenate qualities.


Xinshe Sea of Flowers 

 One of the most beautiful places to visit in Taiwan, the XInshe Sea of Flowers is a seasonal attraction in the heart of Taichung. Taking place during the months of winter, this annual festival lets you 


 

Ximending 

 One of the best places to visit in Taiwan for shopaholics coming to the country, Ximending is the cultural heart and soul for Taiwan’s Wanhua district. The shopping district is lined by high end and mid  budget  stores.



Muzha Zoo 

 Sometimes known as the Taipei Zoo, the Muzha Zoo is a public zoological garden in the Wenshan district. Home to more than 700 species of birds and animals, the zoo makes sure you never run out of things  to  see.



 

Miramar Entertainment Park 

 One of Taiwan’s most famed malls, Miramar Entertainment Park combines art and amusement into a single shopping paradise. Packed with high end departmental stores, the Entertainment  park offers  a  wholesome  shopping  experience   here.


PaoChueh Temple.

 Founded in 1927, Paochueh is one of Taiwan’s oldest Buddhist temples. Characterized by the massive Maitreyi statue that flanks the building, the temple stands as a symbol of unity between   Chinese  and  Japanese  Temples.


Lao Mei Green Reef 

One of the most stunning natural Taiwan places to visit, the Lao Mei Green reef is a unique strip of seashore riddled with bright green rock troughs.


85 Sky.

 Dominating the skyline of Kaohsiung, this 85 storeyed skyscraper is one of Taiwan’s modern architectural marvels. Closely resembling a typical Chinese Pagoda, the tower is shaped like the  chineese  letter  'gao' .Which  is also  the  first  letter  in  the name of city.


Wanli UFO Village 

 One of the most unique Taiwan places to visit is the Wanli Village, an abandoned beachside resort known for its UFO shaped houses. This art resort features ‘Futuro’ homes that resemble flying saucers.


Lotus Lake Taoist Complex 

The Taoist complex at the Lotus Lake is a collection of gorgeous Chinese pagodas, temples and shrines lining the banks of the artificial lake in Kaohsiung. On one side of the lake is the gorgeous  spring  and  Autumn  pavallians  known  for  its  ornate  Architectural  design  .
