WHAT IS ANDROID PHONE

Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google. It is used by several smartphones and tablets.  The Android operating system (OS) is based on the Linux kernel. Unlike Apple's iOS, Android is open source, meaning developers can modify and customize the OS for each phone.

 There has been speculation over whether Android is called "Android" because it sounds like "Andy." Actually, Android is Andy Rubin — coworkers at Apple gave him the nickname back in 1989 because of his love for robots. Android.com was Rubin's personal website until 2008.
