have recreated the original Santa Clause face ,using
facial reconstruction system and 3D interactive technology.
St Nicholos's face has been recreated by a pair of researchers working in the "Face lab" at Liverpool's John Mo ores University's school of art and design ,has proved that the original Santa Claus didn't actually have his white beard.
Santa Clause was a 4th century bishop ,famous for secret gift giving and was known for putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him. ,His relics can be still found Bari Cathedral, in Italy., which has been a shrine since his death in the year 343.
Now ,Caroline Wilkinson and Mark Roughly developed an image of Nicolas using "all the skeleton and historical material available"The researchers said that the information was fed into a facial reconstruction system and recreated using 3D interactive technology The recreation also include Nicholas severely broken nose .,giving him a slightly offset visage with a rugged facial appearance.
Liverpool researchers revealed real face of the father Christmas to children at the city primary school ,named after him.
Children at saint Nicholas primary School in Liverpool city center were the first to see the new image- showing a middle -aged man with a long grey beard , round head and square jaw.
St Nicholas also had a severely broken nose, which had healed asymmetrically giving him a distinctive rugged facial appearance.
The face was revealed on the eve of the feast day of saint Nicholas .
Professor Wilkinson said ; "This is the most realistic appearance of St Nicholas based on all the skeletal and historical material.
"It is thrilling for us to be able to see the face of this famous 4th century bishop.
"It was important to us to involve the local children in the reveal of latest depiction of the face of St Nicholas and I hope that they will think of his face every year on St Nicholas's feast day."
St Nicholas was a Greek bishop of Myra ,part of modern day Turkey.
Professor Wilkinson said his Mediterranean heritage explained why he had hairs which turned grey as he age,rather than white beard he is known for.
The face has been created with up-to-date anatomical standards ,Turkish tissue depth data ad CG I animation.
