WORLD FAMOUS WRITERS- MARK TWAIN

 Mark Twain was an American humorist, novelist, and travel writer. His  real  was  Samuel Langhorne Clemens, Today he is best remembered as the author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885)..

 

 Twain's written works challenged the fundamental issues that faced the America of his time; racism, evolving landscapes, class barriers, access to education and more. He is celebrated for works such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and his memoir, Life on the Mississippi (1883).

 Twain is widely considered one of the greatest American writers of all time.

 

Twain has both moulded and inspired the American literary canon which millions still enjoy today. Huck Finn has taught young Americans right from wrong and the importance of country and friendship, all through a narrative that
  constantly interrogates the ideals of the nineteenth century American South.

 Twain was a Presbyterian. He was critical of organized religion and certain elements of Christianity through his later life. He wrote, for example, "Faith is believing what you know ain't so", and "If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be – a Christian".

 Twain is noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), which has been called "the Great American Novel," and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). He also wrote poetry, short stories, essays, and non-fiction.

 'The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County'': Perhaps one of Twain's most famous short works, this story explains how an infamous gambler finds himself on the wrong end of a swindle.

Olivia Langdon Clemens was the wife of the  Mark Twain.
