Ingredients for DIY Sunflower Oil Treatment
To make this recipe to deep condition your hair, you'll need:- Sunflower oil
- You may also add extra virgin coconut oil or safflower oil, or use them as substitutes for sunflower oil.
- You'll need a comb to work the oil through your hair and a warm, damp towel.
- Some people also like to use a disposable shower cap or a deep conditioning cap to lock heat inside as the deep conditioning treatment works its magic on their brittle locks.
- Alternatively, you can sit under a stationary blow dryer to allow the oils to penetrate and strengthen the hair.
-
Preparation
- Wet hair in the shower.
- Apply a quarter-size amount of sunflower oil to your scalp (more or less as needed, depending on the length, thickness and texture of your hair).
- Massage it into the scalp.
- Comb the oil through to the ends of your hair.
- Wrap hair in a hot wet towel for up to an hour.
- If you don't have that much time, try wrapping hair in Saran Wrap for 20 minutes.
- Then, shampoo hair thoroughly.
- Shampooing, especially with products that contain harsh ingredients such as sulfates and parabens, can strip hair of its natural oils.
- o, try not to use shampoos with these ingredients. Many shampoos now advertise on the bottle whether they're sulfate-free or paraben-free.
- After shampooing, it's completely up to you whether you use
conventional conditioner afterward. Many people skip conditioning if
they have "pre-pooed" (conditioned hair before shampooing) with an oil
treatment.
Once you're out of the shower, however, you can apply a leave-in conditioner and detangler to keep your locks under control.PREPARATION TIMEIt doesn't take long at all to prepare this recipe. You should be able to whip up this deep conditioning treatment in just a few minutes. Many people allow the treatment to sit on their hair for about 45 minutes. The choice is totally yours. If you have household chores to complete you can let this deep conditioning treatment sit on your hair for hours. Some people even use deep conditioning treatments over night. If you decide to go for the long haul, be aware that the oil can begin to drip down your face and neck and eventually onto clothing and furniture. So, be careful not to make a mess. Consider spreading a towel out across your couch, bed or where ever you'll be situated as you give the treatment time to work.SUNFLOWER OIL.
