FISH THAT UNDERWENT BRAIN SURGERY


A  Golden    Pet   fish   underwent   a   Brain  surgery   in  Australia  on  this Tuesday  .
The  ten year  old   fish ,  named  George  ,had  a  tumor  protruding  from    its  head .The  fish  was   unable  to  swim  and  eat  properly  and  starting  to  suffer.There   was  two  options,  either  get  the  tumor   operated  or  put down  the fish.The  owner  ,a  woman,who  was  very much attached  to  the  fish, and  wanted  to  do  anything   she  could   for  him ,chooses  the  first  one, to  operate  on .
The  gold fish  was  knocked out  with   anaesthetic   for  the operation .  The  whole  operation    took just 30  -minutes .Now  ,the   golden fish  is  fast  recovering  well  in  its  home  pond.
According to Tristan   Rich , the  vet  who  operated  the  fish ,,'the  whole  operation  was  done  using  three  buckets  of  water ,with  different  levels  of  water ,with  different  levels  of anaesthetic  in the first  two  to  knocked  the  fish  out. One  bucket  contain  water  heavy  laced  with anasthetic  .In which  fish  swam  until  he  was  put  to  sleep.The  second   bucket  contained  enough  anaesthetic    to  keep   him   asleep which  traveled  through   a tube   connected  to  fish's mouth , flushing  over his  gills .After  the  surgery  was  complete ,the  fish  was  released  into  the third  bucket,filled  with  oxygenised water  and  left  to  recover. The  operation  was    quite   fiddly  as  controlling  blood loss  is  very  important  for  the  80 - gram   creature ,  not  more  than  half  a milliliter  should  be  loss.
The  operation  was  performed   by  Tristan  Rich   from ' the Lort Smith  Animal  Hospital'.
And  the  operation  cost only  a  $200.
