HAIR CUTS  DON'T  HURT.The   reason  is  quite  simple, because    hairs   are  made   of  dead  cells,so  we  don't  feel  pain.The  dead  hair  cells  are  filled  with   a  tough  ,    waterproof  protein  called  Keratin,  as are  nails,   and  the  skin  flakes  that  we   lose  daily  in  their  millions  from our  skin  surface.All  these  things    are  part  of  the   protective   overcoat  that  cover  and  protect   our  body.



SKIN-  Skin  is   really   thin  but  quite   complex .Its  made  of  two  layers ; The  epidermis     provide  protection, and  is  constantly worn  away and   replaced.The  dermis  glues  the   epidermis  to  the  rest  of  the  body   and  deals   with  feelings, temperature  control,  and  food  and  oxygen  supplies
WHY   SKIN IS  IMPORTANT.- 
Skin   provide  a   waterproof   covering   around  our   body.
  • It   form  a  barrier  between   our  delicate  tissues   and  harsh  outside    world
  • It   stops  germs   getting   into  our  body.
  • It  filters  out  harmful  ultraviolet  radiation  in  sun light   that  can  damage  our  cells
  • It  helps  our  body  maintain  a  steady  temperature 
  • It   houses  receptors  that   enable  us  to  detect  touch,  pressure,vibration,  heat  ,  and  cold.

COLOUR  OF  SKIN-  Our  skin  is   colored  by  a  pigment   called  melanin.It  protects  us  by  absorbing   harmful   ultraviolet   rays in  sunlight ,  it  automatically   makes   more   melanin  and  gives us  a  suntan.But   at  the  same  time  we  must  also   protect   it   from    excessive  sunlight   by   covering  up    and  applying  a    suncream.
SWEAT  GLAND.-  The   Armpit   sweat  glands  produce  a  thicker    sweat    than    the  body's other  sweat  glands..When   bacterias   feed   on  this  sweat  they  release   chemicals   that  can  smell  musky  and  unpleasant.

SKIN  DWELLERS- Many  kinds  of  organism   live   in   our  skin.Some  common  one's  are-
Fleas-  These   feed  on  blood   and  then  leap  on  to  the   next  victim.
Head   Lice- The  most  common  ,it   grip  hairs,lays   eggs  and  then    pierce   the  scalp  to  feed  on  blood.
Ticks-  It  attach   to  the  skin    and  blow  like  a  balloon,as  they  feed  on  blood  and  then  drops  off.
Scabies  mites-  It   borrow  under    the  skin   to  lay  eggs ,which  causes   intense   itching .
Eyelash  mites- These   live   harmlessly    in  the  eyelash   follicles   of  every  one.
Bacteria-These   are  presents  in  trillions,  but  usually  harmless  unless   they  get   inside  our  body  through  a  cut  or  injury.

  • The   Thickest   skin in  human body is   on  the  sole  of  the  feet.It's  thickness  is 4.7mm or  .2in.
  •  The   Thinnest   skin   in  human   body is  the  is  on  the  eyelids.It's  thickness  is 0.12mm or 0.005in.
  • The    number  of  skin  flakes  a  human  body   lost  every  minute  is  50,000.
