SPACE-INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

IN  1998,THE  FIRST  component  of   the  International  space   station  (ISS)  were  launched  from  Russia  and   the  US.The  ISS  will  provide   a  unique  place  to  study    the  Earth  ,  and  to  see   ,how  the  sun;s violent   eruptions    affect  the   operation  of  the communications   satellites  ,  and  the weather  on  the   Earth .The  effect  of  gravity    inside  the  station    will  be   minuscule   and  scientists   will   be able     to  study  a  myriad  of  subtle    biological  ,physical,  and  chemical  reactions ,  which  are  impossible  to   duplicate   on  Earth.Complete   construction  will  require   a  total   of  45  space  missions    many hours  of space  walking     by  astronauts .The  station  is  scheduled   to   be  permanently   crewed  from   the  eighth  misssion  onwards.Astronauts    will  spend  many  months  at a  time    on  the  station , testing  equipments   for  future  space    exploration  missions .
SLEEP  IN  SPACE.-  Asrronauts     sleep  in   an  upright    position  so   that     they  receive  a   constant    flow  of  air  .If  they  slept  in  horizontally  , the  effects     of  weightlessness   could  result   in  suffocation   from  exhaled  carbon dioxide .Thus  astronauts   remains   stationary   by  crossing  his  arms   and using    straps    to   anchor    himself   to   the  wall  of   the module.
MIR   SPACE  STATION -NOW  referred  to   as Phase  one  of   the  International  space  station .Mir  was   home  to  American,Russian, and  European      astronauts   as  they  learned   to  work  together  in  space.
