Using   a  format  is  called  hypertext   or  hypermedia ,web  documents  contain  links  to  other  pages  of the  text,pictures,sound recording, or videos  ,which  can  be  activated  by  clicking  on  highlighted   or  underlined  text  and  picture  icons ,  known  as  "hyper links "  or " hotspot"These  links  are  created  by  the   programming  language  HTML(HYPER TEXT MARK LANGUAGE),which  also  defines   how  the  text  and  graphics  will  appear  on  the  page.

FUNCTION  OF  THE  WEB.
1.Web   page  broken  down  into  packets  of  binary  data  for  transmission  .
2Data  is  sent  to   destination  via  the  Internet.
3.Analog   audio   signal   received   and  converted    into  binary  data    via  modem.
4.Packets  of  binary  data  are  translated  into  a   readable  message.
5.Web  page   is  downloaded   onto   user's   screen.
