GORILLAS

Gorillas are ground-dwelling, predominantly herbivorous apes that inhabit the forests of central Sub-Saharan Africa. The genus Gorilla is divided into two species: the eastern gorillas and the western gorillas, and either four or five subspecies. They are the largest living primates. Gorillas' natural habitats cover tropical or subtropical forests in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although their range covers a small percentage of Sub-Saharan Africa, gorillas cover a wide range of elevations. The mountain gorilla inhabits the Albertine Rift montane cloud forests of the Virunga Volcanoes, ranging in altitude from 2,200 to 4,300 metres (7,200 to 14,100 ft). Lowland gorillas live in dense forests and lowland swamps and marshes as low as sea level, with western lowland gorillas living in Central West African countries and eastern lowland gorillas living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo near its border with Rwanda. The closest relatives of gorillas are t

POMPEII THE BURRIED TOWN

Pompeii ( / p É’ m ˈ p eɪ i / ) was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompeii. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Many of the inhabitants were also buried before they could escape.    In 79 CE, volcanic Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried Pompeii, Italy. Hidden from the world beneath pumice and ash, it was all but forgotten for nearly 1,500 years. But that changed in 1738 when excavation workers discovered the site preserved beneath dust and debris. ... Thus, the preserved bodies of Pompeii were born.   The ruined city remained frozen in time until it was discovered by a surveying engineer in 1748.  Largely preserved under the ash, the excavated city offers a unique snapshot of Roman life, frozen at the moment i

BENEFITS OF LEMON IN THE MORNING

Lemon juice is vital for many of its uses at home, plus it has real healing power. After use of the fruit or the juice, keep the peels, as they have some uses. (Freezing them is a great option!) Lemons provide a natural remedy to some ailments and they are also helpful for in cleaning, beauty care, and cooking — plus they smell great. The juice left in the rind of the fruit can be helpful in lightening age spots and for cooking in the kitchen. Lemons have antibacterial properties that make it very useful for clean cutting boards and other surfaces. Some  other  uses  of  lemon  peels  are  - Reduces Cholesterol in the Body Lemon peels are also effective at reducing the cholesterol levels in the body, ensuring that the heart has a better chance of maintaining a healthy state. This is also due to the high levels of flavonoids present in the peels. Less cholesterol in the body means better well being. Remove Odors From Hands If you've

SNAKES THE MOST MYSTERIOUS CREATURE

Snakes    Nature   has  made  several  varieties  and  species   of  snakes. Different   types  of  snakes  are -   Elapidae (Elapids)  The Elapidae family comprises the most venomous species of snakes in the world. These snakes (elapids) are mostly found in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. An important characteristic feature of the elapids is their fixed, hollow fangs, which are used to inject venom. Their venom is neurotoxic, which causes severe damage to nervous tissues, and thus it can be potentially deadly.  Some popular snake species in the Elapidae family are: Black Mamba Indian Cobra King Cobra Cape Cobra Green Mamba Egyptian Cobra Red Spitting Cobra Mozambique Spitting Cobra Inland Taipan (the most venomous land snake in the world). Viperidae (Vipers) The important family of venomous snakes is Viperidae. Snakes in this family (vipers) are known for their long, hinged hollow fangs. Unlike the elapids, which hav

NOW DNA FOR DATA STORAGE

In     a Data storage  breakthrough  scientists have figured out how to save massive quantities of information in a single molecule of DNA, which will store the data safely for up to 1 million year  The breakthrough could lead to digital archives of everything from ancient texts to Wikipedia changes being stored in the form of DNA that could in theory survive for hundreds of thousands of years without any loss of data. Genetic information stored in DNA molecules makes life on Earth possible, but what if humans could use the same kind of technology to store their own data? Apparently, scientists have figured out how to save massive quantities of information in a single molecule of DNA, which will store the data safely for up to 1 million years. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology has “fossilized” DNA by encapsulating it in glas s, to prolong the life of DNA that would store data. The scientists also came up with a mathematical alg

WHY DO HONEY BEE DIE AFTER STING

In honey bee workers, the stinger has fairly large, backward-facing barbs on the lancets. When the worker bee stings you, these barbs dig into your flesh, making it impossible for the bee to pull its stinger back out. As the bee flies off, the entire stinging apparatus—venom sacs, lancets, and stylus—is pulled from the bee's abdomen and left in your skin. The honey bee dies as a result of this abdominal rupture. Thus, a honey bee can only sting once. Because honey bees live in large, social colonies, the group can afford to sacrifice a few members in defense of their hive.  If you do get stung by a honey bee, remove the stinger as quickly as possible. Those venom sacs, despite being detached from the bee, will continue to pump venom into you: more venom equals more pain.  If a bee comes near you, stay calm; don't swat at it or flail your hands in the air. Let it land on you if it wants and gently blow on it to make it fly away again. Remember, bee

EXERCISE TO RELIEVE SRTRESS

Exercise can be an extremely effective stress reliever for several reasons:  Exercise can decrease ‘stress hormones' like cortisol, and increase endorphins, your body's ‘feel-good’ chemicals, giving your mood a natural boost.   It helps you lose weight, tone your body, and maintain a healthy glow and a smile. You may feel a subtle but significant boost as your clothes look more flattering on, and you are   with  more confidence and strength. Distraction Physical activity itself can take your mind off of your problems and either redirect it on the activity at hand or get you into a zen-like state. Exercise usually involves a change of scenery as well, either taking you to a gym,  , a park, a scenic mountain, a biking trail or a neighborhood sidewalk, all of which can be pleasant low-stress places.  Illness can also cause stress, with the physical pain, missed activities, feelings of isolation and other things that come with it. So im
