On June 10, 1752, Benjamin Franklin flies a kite during a thunderstorm and collects ambient electrical charge in a

Leyden jar, enabling him to demonstrate the connection between lightning and electricity. He also invented the lightning rod, used to protect buildings and ships.

One of the most famous experiments done by Benjamin Franklin was the Kite Experiment. He attached a long wire to a kite made of silk. He tied a metal key to the kite string to conduct the electricity.Through his experiments, he proved that storm clouds carried electricity and lightning was nothing but a heavily charged spark of electricity.

As a scientist, he was a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. As an inventor, he is known for the lightning rod, bifocals, and the Franklin stove, among other inventions.

In his lifetime, he was one of the most famous figures of the Western world. He was a printer, an inventor, a statesman, a diplomat, and a writer. His scientific discoveries included fundamental discoveries about electricity, the invention of bifocals, the odometer, and the glass harmonica.

The pointed lightning rod conductor, also called a lightning attractor or Franklin rod, was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1752 as part of his groundbreaking exploration of electricity.
